This experimental music project by Fin is named after the Brown Dwarf of Planetary Mass WISE 0855-0714, which is the 5th closest star system to our solar system. The project explores the different possibilities of spacey soundscapes mixed with both Harsh Noise and Soft Noises, often with multiple layers of digital and analogue effects on top. Multiple elements from various genres are thrown into the mix to create a big diversity of sounds and experiences.
The project tells the story of its mascot Violet, the humanoid representation of the Brown Dwarf. Her dream is to form a band with her friends, who all happen to be stars and brown dwarfs close to her, represented by humanoid characters with various properties based on the celestial body they represent.

The Journey
The project scope is big and very ambitious. The current journey is planned to be 100 albums long and has the set goal to one day create a noise opera that sounds spacey and chaotic, but at the same time epic and intensive.
The start is all about production techniques and toying around with various synths and effects – both digital and analogue. Different software leads to different approaches. Be it the first two albums which were recorded live. Or the third album that was recorded in simple DAW that is heavily specialized on building blocks and effects. Or the yet to be released fourth album, that is completely made in a professional recording software by recording each layer seperatedly and adding effects to them.
There is a plan to make an Anniversary Remake of every album after exactly one year. This will be used to apply the various new production and creation techniques used in other albums to the older ones, to recreate the album in a very different soundscape. Usually some more stuff is added, like a faint melody or another rhythmic element. Those are not remastered versions though, they are completely remade with only the same idea in mind, but are completely different albums at their core, that only resemble their original versions through a hand full of elements.

Violet heads over to her best friends, the Luhman 16 twins Redd and Scarlet. They are brown dwarfs too but they are so very different. Redd is more the spacey type, while Scarlet is really just a chaotic mess that likes to play with dirty soundscapes.
